"Man,
I don't think you'd let me cut your hair."
~Josh on the type of hairdresser he'd make
JH: Oh yeah, when I was a little
kid, I tried to draw a goatee on my face.
CK: What did you use?
JH: A marker. A Sharpie, it kinda stuck for a while.
~From an interview on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn
"Jesus, I don't know. it's just
another movie - it's just bigger."
~Josh on what making Pearl
Harbor was like
"I've come on to a couple of
British girls and a couple have come on to me. British girls are
beautiful. But they don't really give it away if they like you.
I've met a lot of Australians here. Whoah! They just grab hold of
you. But what I really love is French girls. Doesn't matter what
they look like, it's the accent..."
~Josh on flirting and his love life
"We got a little on our noses. But
we were actually snorting Vitamin C tablets. So it was pretty
healthy for us."
~Josh on his character's [Zeke]
occupation in The Faculty
"I got a lot of nicks and cuts
on my hands. I don't think I'll go near another pair of scissors
ever again."
~Josh on his occupation
(hairdresser) in Blow Dry
I love to reach out and slot myself
into the Hollywood system and do my thing, but I don't ever want
to be a fully-fledged member, someone who is a stable element. I
don't want to be a pillar - I want to be a guy on the outside
hitting it with a hammer."
~Josh on fitting in Hollywood
"I don't particularly like fame, to
tell you the truth. Being able to live your life in any way you
feel fit is something that very few people understand unless they
lose it. And you can't lose that. Like on the internet I believe
it says I'm an alcoholic. It's ridiculous. I'm 21. You don't want
your grandmother reading that. Thank god my grandmother doesn't
have a computer!"
~Josh on how he handles fame
"When the part was brought to me, I
was told he was the coolest guy in school and that was about it. I
was like, "Oh, OK." But what I got from reading the
script was that he's the classic underachiever. He could do
anything he wants to. He just decides he doesn't want to because,
you know, fuck the system, man."
~Josh on his character, Zeke, in The
Faculty
"Not a chance. It's not the
wedding finger. Actually, it's just that this ring won't come off,
so I've had it on for three years."
~Josh on whether the ring seen in a lot of his early movies has
special significance
"I'm looking forward to the
excitement that comes with sharing your life with one person,
instead of throwing it all out to the wind or keeping it all to
yourself. But I couldn't handle it at this point, I'm too
immature."
~Josh on relationships
"You know what? I'm really attracted
to British women. There's something innately proper about them.
However badly they behave their accent is so cute that it makes up
for everything."
~Josh on women
"We had a few disagreements about it
at first because when I decided to give up on high school. It's
always hard for me to understand that someone might have a problem
with what I'm doing. I guess I'm kind of a self-involved person,
but I don't think there are many actors who aren't."
~Josh on his parent's reaction to his acting career
"It's not scary to make a horror
film because you get to pull back the curtain and see that none of
it's real. When you're watching one, the terror bombards
you."
~Josh on why he can make horror movies even if he's afraid of
watching them
"In my next movie [Virgin
Suicides], I wear hair extensions. At first they were, like,
glued to my scalp. But they kept coming off in my sleep when I
would roll over. I'd wake up with what looked like a squirrel on
my chest, so after that we went for a wig."
~Josh on his hair
"It's tough when in between takes
they yell, 'Cut!' and everybody's going about their business and
nobody thinks to uncuff you. When I got out of there, I had no
more skin on my wrists. . . [or] dignity!"
~Josh on his handcuffed position in the TV series Cracker
"I was up for The Postman,
and I read for it a couple times, but the casting lady told me I
was too tall for the part -- taller than Kevin Costner."
~Josh on memorable auditions
